About the Lynchburg Region
Welcome > Local Info > About the Lynchburg Region ...

"Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be useful to the town of Lynchburg.
I consider it as the most interesting spot in the state."
Thomas Jefferson October 7, 1817

Welcome To Lynchburg!

The Lynchburg region is a great place to live, work, and raise your family! Money magazine agrees with us. Lynchburg has been named by Money magazine as one of the best places in the country to live. Readers Digest places Lynchburg in the top 50 best places to raise a family. Moreover, the FBI recently ranked Lynchburg as one of the nation's safest areas.

Located on the banks of the historic James River, the city sits at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The water and the mountains provide a wealth of recreational options to explore.

Proudly blending the old with the new, this city has all of the charm you'd expect from a traditional southern town. Unburdened by problems common to many urban areas such as traffic congestion, high crime, school problems, and a high cost of living, the Lynchburg area is recognized as a center for quality health care, award-winning educational opportunities, and a thriving high-tech manufacturing sector. Few places in the country can compete with the Lynchburg area's focus on providing the very highest quality of life for its citizens.

Real Estate Tips
Disclosure Laws >What Not To Do When Selling

Putting your home on the market is a major decision that carries a high stress factor. Sellers sometimes become emotionally overwhelmed from the pressure and make expensive mistakes. Here are some pitfalls to avoid when selling your home.

Don't fail to disclose defects in the property. Disclosure laws require you to reveal information about the home systems, including environmental issues, structural problems, homeowner's association rules and restrictions on use of the property. Many buyers will require an inspection of your property prior to finalizing the sale, and problems you may hope to hide will tend to come to light.

Don't make last-minute home improvements that may not add value. Remodeling takes time, will prolong the work of getting your home ready to show, and won't necessarily please buyers. Don't price your home too high. Your asking price should be within range of comparable homes in the area that have recently sold. And finally, don't try to sell your home without the help of an experienced real estate agent!
