Penn and Teller,Fool Us is a competition in magic television show in which magicians perform tricks before American magic veteran duo Penn & Teller. The first season was aptly hosted by Jonathan Ross,and the 3rd season after that was hosted by the Penn And Teller,Fool Us Host Alyson Hannigan.
Every episode begins with an introduction that explains the reason for the series. Penn & Teller come out and are seated at the center stage. They watch the hopeful performers perform their act in front of them with a live studio audience. After each performance,Penn & Teller privately discuss the show while the host questions the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal their knowledge of how the trick was executed,typically using cryptic language or recording the technique and then present it to the magicians in order to verify,so as to avoid divulging the method behind the trick.
Season six will be broadcasted on October 27,2022.
The Best Four Penn And Teller — Fool Us Winners
Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London,England (season one) and the Penn and Teller Theater in Las Vegas (season two onward). Following each show,when Penn & Teller cannot figure out how a trick was done,then the magician(s) who performed the trick get a Fool Us trophy and a five-star flight to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act in Penn & Teller`s show,also at The Rio Hotel & Casino.
The eleventh season premiered on the
18th of October 2021.
Teller says that the doublespeak is a way to teach people new tricks without compromising the trick. If Penn & Teller are wrong,or cannot come up with the method used to perform the trick,the magician will be awarded the Fool Us trophy and the chance to perform again in one of Penn and Teller`s Las Vegas shows. A backstage judge who is knowledgeable about the art of magician`s trade and is intimately informed about the method used to perform the trick prior to the show,makes important calls as to whether Penn & Teller were properly fooled. At the end of each show,Penn & Teller perform an act of magic on their own.
Penn and Teller have a friendly rapport with the magicians that appear on their show. Penn and Teller`s hosting tasks were temporarily handled in the first season by Jonathan Ross in the first season,however they were back for the following season. Penn & Teller The Fool Us series was shot at Fountain Studios in London,England for the first season before moving to the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas,Nevada for the second season and beyond.
The magicians who appear in Penn & Teller: Fool Us are usually skilled sleight-of-hand illusionists and performers. Raymond Teller remains quiet throughout the course of the show,but they do communicate through subtle gestures with each other. They`re known to speak with magicians performing and request for them to repeat specific actions or provide more information.
As of 2017,Penn and Teller have published books on trickery in magic,and created instructional videos on card technique and also toured with a magic show called Penn & Teller The Fool Us.
